Doctor’s Office

Doctor's Office

Anna wakes up feeling pretty crummy. Her throat is sore, her head is pounding, and she’s just plain tired. Her mom notices and says, “Let’s head to the doctor. You need to feel better soon.”

They drive over to the doctor’s office. When they get there, the receptionist greets them warmly. She asks for Anna’s name and birthday, and Anna’s mom fills in the details. She explains that Anna has a sore throat and a headache.

The nurse soon calls Anna’s name. She takes Anna’s temperature and checks her pulse. “You’ve got a fever,” she says, then tells Anna to wait for the doctor.

A few moments later, the doctor walks in with a friendly smile. He asks Anna how she’s feeling and listens carefully as she describes her symptoms. “I’m really tired, and my throat hurts a lot,” Anna says.

The doctor examines Anna, checking her throat and listening to her chest with a stethoscope. After a quick check, he says, “Looks like you’ve caught a cold. You need to rest and drink lots of water. No school until you’re feeling better.”

He writes a note for Anna’s school and gives it to her mom. “Make sure she stays warm and comfortable,” he advises. Anna and her mom thank the doctor and head home.

Anna feels a bit better knowing that she’ll be taken care of and will soon be back to her normal self.
